What is R.C.I.A?
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process developed by the Catholic Church for prospective converts to Catholicism who are above the age of infant baptism. RCIA stages include a period of inquiry (a time of introduction to the gospel values and the beginning of faith), a more formal study of the catechism (teaching of the Church), the reception of the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist), and then a period of post-baptismal catechesis or mystagogy. This process is designed to educate and form individuals in the Catholic faith, bringing them into a deeper relationship with Christ and integrating them into the life and mission of the Catholic community.
Classes take place from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evenings in the library. (Yes! You can join after the class begins)
Classes are ideal for those who:
- want to check out the Catholic Faith
- are curious about "Things Catholic"
- want to become part of the Catholic Family
- wanting to complete their Sacraments
- may have drifted away from the practice of their faith
- may not have received full instruction in the Faith growing up
The class team will include our pastor and other members of the parish. Classes meet weekly and include Q & A, discussions and presentations on Catholic Beliefs, Practices and Teachings.
The classes are relaxed, with no pressure--just an opportunity to be with others who may also be seeking answers to their questions about where God, the Church, and Faith fit in their life.
Each year around the world, more than a million adults choose to become part of the Catholic Family--150,000 in the United States alone. Some are new Christians and some are currently members of other faith Communities. For many their journey began in a class much like this one.
Come and join us at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.
